Baby Blues

I had the best time this morning getting to see my cousin, his beautiful wife and their new precious little baby girl!

We went out to the Sac State campus to catch some of the fall colors and even though it was slightly windy, the weather was perfect.

As beautiful as the autumn leaves were in full color; nothing was as gorgeous as those baby blues! Charlotte was an instant “model” from the moment her daddy lifted her from the stroller; she would immediately pose and look straight at the camera!

Thanks again Brian and Shelley and congratulations on such an adorable little girl; I hope to see lots more of this little “model!”

Fall Fun in the Leaves

This weekend was a fun day in the leaves with three families of cousins!

We had a great time (even though it was a bit chilly) doing some fun surprise photos for their Grandma for Christmas.

It can be hard to get all the kids to smile and look at the camera when they are so young, but the park we were at was not only full of leaves, but had chickens running around! So even though there were a couple kiddos that were unsure about the stranger with the camera; it didn’t take long to get them to throw leaves in the air and start laughing and playing around.

Thank you again; it was so great to work with all of your families and I can’t wait for you to see all the rest; I know that your Grandma will be so happy to be getting such a special present from her family.

This year has gone by so quickly that we are already in the middle of family fall portraits before the holidays begin!
We have had the privilege of working with the McNeil family previously for both of their daughter’s Senior Portraits and were so happy to know we would be working with them again. If you haven’t met the McNeil Family, then you are missing out! We never seem to stop laughing when we are with them; they are so fun to be around! They are easy to photograph since they are always smiling and joking around with each other. We always have the best of times when we are around them and are just sad they don’t have any more daughters to photograph! Kelly & JD Wedding Sneak Peek…

The clouds loomed darkly overhead, the morning of Kelly and JD’s wedding. We kept asking ourselves, “This is an outdoor ceremony, what if it rains?” Shortly before the ceremony was scheduled to begin, the rain came. And the rain stayed. The venue did an amazing job of moving the ceremony and reception indoors in record time and then the magic started to happen…

Kelly and JD selected a fantastic venue, being indoors was no problem with their classically decorated rooms and beautiful chandelier adorned ballroom. Once we saw the venue we knew, despite the rain, this was going to be a very special day. A day celebrating the love between Kelly and JD with their family and friends. Rain? Who care’s!

Being indoors added a great deal to the images…the feeling was romantic, intimate and unpredictable. Being caught off guard was never so perfect….although below, you can see for that for yourself…

It’s a Girl!

It’s been way too long since we photographed a newborn baby girl!

Leila was 100% pure adorableness at only 9 days old.

She had everyone in suspense since she decided to wait almost two weeks past her due date to join us, but even then, she was so tiny and sweet at a little over 6lbs!

It was such an honor to be invited into Leila’s home to photograph those first moments in life.

Maria’s Maternity Session

Maria and Gary are expecting their first baby…a little girl! Leila will be here in early April, so White Window wanted to capture her even before she was born.

We had a great time photographing Maria, she was such a natural! Not only did we get to photograph her maternity photos, but then we were able to see the beautiful nursery where Leila will soon be in.

Gary did such a great job hand crafting the beautiful family tree that is on one wall in the nursery. Soon family pictures in handmade leaf frames will be hanging there as well.

Shannon and myself could both see the love and pride both Maria and Gary had for their soon-to-be daughter with the intimate details that decorated the nursery and the custom designs explaining her Moroccan heritage.

We are very excited to meet Miss Leila when she arrives so stay posted as those photos will be here soon!

Thank you again Maria and Gary; we can’t wait to meet your daughter!

Kelly and JD’s Engagement session in Placerville

Last Thursday morning was the coldest it has been in Placerville for awhile. So we thought, “Why not?” Let’s go take some pictures in the 30 degree weather!

Kelly & JD were the best of sports! They made the adventurous trek up to Placerville early in the morning.

Even with having to continually remove their jackets and let in the bitter chill, they were able to laugh and have a great time.

And we were excited as well because despite the cold, we were able to capture some very special moments!

Their wedding coming up this May will be a beautiful event so be sure to see those images as well once we post them!

Natalie’s Senior Portraits in Placerville

Our second senior shoot this weekend was Natalie. She met us bright and early (our favorite time of day!) on Sunday and we hit the road. Every time we shoot in a location we try and find new ways to capture it. This time we found a tiny little alley we had never seen before and captured some of my favorite images ever. Little alley, you and I are about to start a beautiful relationship! I will be back.

We also found an incredible blue wall to set off Natalie’s pink dress. All in all we had a great time. Thanks for coming up guys! See you soon.

Taylor’s Senior Portraits in Placerville

What a weekend! White Window made the trek up to Placerville not once, but twice last weekend to hand out with some cool high school seniors. On Friday night we met up with Taylor, her dad, and her awesome drum set and headed out to find some cool backgrounds.

We ended up on some (loud!) freeway overpasses, in brick alleys, and found the coolest bookstore I ever seen in my life! A huge thank you to the Bookery for allowing us to shoot in your store. We loved it!

Brian & Shelley

Saturday, November 6th, 2010, was a very special day. Memorable to all the family and friends that joined together to watch as Brian and Shelley spoke their vows and promises to each other, but special to me as well, watching the “big brother” I grew up with hold hands with the love of his life. Getting to see how happy they both were together and how much fun they have together; made you know…this was the real deal.

The Loomis Flower Farm was such a beautiful location for the ceremony and reception; there were all different kinds of flowers, little walkways and even fluffy chickens! While taking photos of the girls all getting ready before the ceremony, it was so fun to hear them joking around; sharing memories together and then hearing them tell Shelley how perfect her and Brian were together.

And then it was time for the ceremony! Seeing her walk down the aisle in her perfect dress and seeing the look in Brian’s eyes as he watched her was so touching. You knew this was a match made in heaven; they were more than just husband and wife; they were best friends, each other’s arm to hang onto in difficult times and lifelong partners to share in whatever would come.

After the ceremony was the reception…Purple centerpieces with peacock feathers. It was spectacular! There were heartfelt toasts and then the the dancing began! It was the perfect celebration to the start in their new lives.

Seeing them together like that made perfect sense, but it was also hard not to remember the little boy dressed in army clothes running through the bushes playing spy. Hard not to remember riding a jeep without a battery headfirst down the steepest asphalt driveway ever. Hard not to remember catching frogs and sending them to “heaven” in a basket with a helium balloon. But it was easy to see that our Moondoggie had found his Gidget.

I’m so happy for you both and know that you are going to have a wonderful life together; love each other always and cherish the new journey you have begun!
